5 Wands – Grounding
This month I am continuing journeying into the minor arcana cards of the Sacred Circle Deck (available from my book store ), this month it is the Five of Wands – and we start to look at the fives. Fives are about the instability the follows the structure of the four when it has outgrown itself, So the fives bring the challenges after the initial stable structure was formed in the fours. These challenges make us stronger though so each brings its own gift to us.

As I look at the card, I like the lush valley that is in the mid ground and the steep sides that recede to the background, I notice there is no sky which is appropriate for a card entitled grounding, the five wands seem to bar the way forward though and somehow entice at the same time.
I walk into the card...
I find myself in a flat bottom of a valley looking towards the lush woodland ahead of me. Around me there is space and many small plants, I see eyebright and reeds in particular. I ask of this area in general ”
“What is your meaning?”
“This is the space for you to think, the area away from the complexities of life so you can allow your thoughts to shift and show you the way forward”
“ ”We are eyebright to help you see things clearly even if the journey forward becomes dark we are your clarity of thought and vision of your future. We also represent getting the details right.”
“You are standing in a place where you can see where you want to go and know that once you start you will need to just follow the path in front of you and some of the sections will be hard to see or overgrown. This is the place of the vision you start with. Check all is as you want it to be and you are sure of your direction. ”
“Thank you” I say ” Both the eyebright and the general area talked to me here.
I look up and see the wands ” they seem so high,
“What do you represent?” I ask
“We are the spiritual aspirations you have the goals you want to achieve in a spiritual sense ” I am the middle one” one of them says “and I shine and sparkle with the reflection of solar light ” The solar light is your sense of self esteem and of who you really are. The highest you can become. Aspiring to this energy you walk the highest path for your soul. ”
“We are not a barrier though may be perceived as this, we are the strengthening of your soul and spirit ” the development of your true self value and often we will be placed before you as a series of challenges which are worth overcoming and working for as the lessons and 'gold' you gain is of high value ” You do have choice though ” at the plateau you stand and can see the nature of the challenges ahead of you and you can choose whether to embrace them or walk another path at this time. ”
“Thank you ” I do understand more clearly now. ” I say.
“I decide I would like to walk forward into the forest ” it calls to me ” I want to go to its depths along the course of the valley and see what is there and perhaps to explore the next valley in the distance. ” I announce
“Very well” They say and I see a pathway into the woods before me and walk along it ” I notice the woodland is not as dark as I expected and that the floor is covered with fallen leaves despite it being summer time ” there is a distinct yellow light falling all around me. I ask of the tree
“What are you here to represent?”
“We are the strengths you already have, the many tasks you have already achieved, we also protect you as you go forward on this journey” They reply
The yellow light says “I am sunlight ” I am the light of your soul too ” I light the way in darkness and will show you where you need to go. The leaves under your feet are the things you have let go of which path the way for you ahead. When you hold onto something which is dead it cannot support you ” but as a fallen leaf, and issues released, it can help show you the way forward, and soften your pathway through the knowledge learned. ”
“Wow thank you” I say ”“ You are all very interesting and I am enjoying meeting you ” I get a real sense of camaraderie here. ”
The path winds through the forest and I hear the breeze in the trees, I ask the path “What do you represent ?”
“I am your journey through any situation ” I twist and turn and I can have many branches, here I am easier to follow as I am a single thread but later when I am hidden you will need to trust your compass to get where you are going. Your compass is the direction you take from the higher world ” from your spiritual connection ” your intention when you set out is your bearing and your receiving of its information how you know which path to take in life. Sometimes you think 'surely this can't be the way' but receive omens, symbols and synchronicities to tell you indeed it is what you must do. As you do so you are following your compass. ”
“Thank you ” Do you all as a card have a message for me today?”
“You know you are growing in your self esteem and your connection with nature is part of that ” nature is telling you that it is not always your power ” but the power that comes through you, that you can be high in your self esteem as you are allowing yourself to be a channel. But you don't have to judge everything that occurs as being about you, as often you are given a way to be to help another. This is the grounding force. Know you are in a physical world and see your physicality as being a help, not a hindrance. Your limitations on this plane are there to help you spiritually. If you seek to avoid physical limitations then you may also seek to avoid the most spiritual of lessons. Connecting with the Earth and nature brings this grounding of the spiritual lessons you are here to learn. Without the physical world the lessons could not be played out. Honour yourself in all things. ”
“Thank you I do understand what you are saying here. ”
“What if you are reversed?” I ask
“Then in a reading we are showing how the opportunity for grounding is present. The opportunity to really bring spiritual energy to earth is ready and waiting but the person is unwilling to embrace the opportunity ” usually because they feel they would be seen as too 'down to earth' and 'practical' and they have identified themselves as spiritually aligned as their identity. There is no need for a 'spiritual identity' the Earth plane is all about spirit coming to know itself ” the Earth plane must be embraced. The spiritual energy grounded here and so transformation and true knowledge can be found. So to right the card ” get practical and take action in a positive way to overcome the obstacles before you ” you have spent enough time in the spiritual realms the spiritual realms is asking you to embrace the earthly now. ”
“Thank you ” that is a useful way of understanding this card. ”
I know my journey has not ended, but I feel it is time to leave this stage of the journey and return another time.
“I thank you all ” you have been most enlightening” I say and I then see a doorway of light in front of me and walk through it and return back to my room and my physical reality with a greater understanding then before.

The readings I give from my website are detailed and last between 1/2 hour to an hour, also I record them onto CD or tape so you can listen to them time and time again – often people find that the things I have said take on new meanings as time passes and that the information that comes through really helps as situations unfold. Information is gained both from the tarot cards as well as psychically the two forms of guidance merging together to give insight to any situation you are concerned about, or you general future.
Readings can be done by distance onto a CD or MP3 and sent to you in the post, so there's no need to be living in my area, or need to find a time we can both be present.
