King of Cups
I look at the card and I am drawn to his cup which he appears to be holding up, as if greeting someone. His dog and faithful friend is looking in the other direction. It feels like upstream and down stream as I look at it. The card feels a little empty and barren to me too with the hops round the top seeming like trees at first but then you see it is an illusion. I wonder what this card will have to tell me.

I walk into the card.....
I notice the hops first around the edge at the top and I decide to talk to them “Hello. What do you represent? Do you have a message for me?”
“We are hops, we grow and deliver our goods in autumn. You can make beer which will help you see the truth or not of any situation. We represent the illusion and intoxication as well as being more in touch with your feelings as you are when you drink of our juices. We stand over and guard the king. – He is the king he has earned his position he knows how to use us for the best effect. Though in reversed form we are here to represent someone who drinks too much and like to block their true feelings, only allowing certain ones through and ignoring the rest. We are a tool to be used by the King we help him balance and sometimes to see the truth that lies within his heart. You may talk to the king now.”
“Thank you”
“ Hello your Majesty, ” I say bowing a little “I come to ask what message you have for me and what this realm of yours means in a reading.”
“Welcome my child, Have a seat don't mind my dog – That's Bruce he guards me and looks after me and he will harm no one who is my friend – I see you come to me with a humble heart – you are my friend.... As I sit here and look across my lands I feel pleased and content inside. I enjoy looking out for and caring for all of my kingdom. I am someone who represents family and loyalty and great love and commitment in a community. My subjects are very important to me and I will do all I can to help them be comfortable safe and protected. I like to socialise and join with people to share of their tales of victory and woe, their battles and their sorrows. Here drink of my cup – you too can share and be part of this community while you visit – I welcome you. ”
“Thank you sir” I take the cup and take a sip and as I do so I feel my body fill with aliveness and it is like my feelings are heightened through taking of this drink. I feel quite excited. and like a joy is rushing through me and I feel my heart expand.
“I like to help people expand their ability to love” Said the king “I like to help people feel better about themselves. Though a mere intoxicant is not enough to satisfy that I have helped another. I like to help at a deep level though I am aware only the person can do that themselves, so I offer safety and guidance and allow the person the space and time to work through whatever they need. As you look out over my lands behind me you can see they are smooth and rolling hills, I like to bring peace and smoothness to peoples lives and even if things do get difficult I am able to sit by and stand the course supporting them as ever I can. I stand the test of time.” “I noticed you head dress it reminds me of a torch. Is there a significance in that? ” “In deed there is my child for the torch lights the way. It is not a torch actually but a jewel, but the symbol of a torch expresses its use. It is a jewel that helps me see where others can not –I can see deep into how someone is feeling and how their psychological make up is affecting them in their present life. It is like a torch in that it shines a light on dark places of the psyche to help them see what they are doing and how they are being and decide whether they like it or not and to change should they wish to. ”
“I am comfortable in my throne I am comfortable in my world, I like peace and I like harmony and I can see what the needs of my people are.”
“Do you have a message for me?”
[He speaks to me of a friend who I have felt great sadness over not seeing for a long time] and says “As you embrace my energy I will help you have a open heart and allow your subjects to leave your land when they choose, though you may feel sad at the loss of them, you will be able to know that it is the right thing for them to follow their heart and that you helped them do so, and that is enough for you to know that you have been instrumental in helping someone walk their true path. Even if it should leave you with sadness. The rewards will be many as you follow this way through your life. ”
“Thank you your Majesty – that does really help I can feel your words within me. And if you are reversed? ”
“If I am reversed – I have a sore head! And that's not just because I am standing on it. I feel grumpy, down, hard to move, wallowing. I find it very difficult to get the emotions flowing, depression, a want for everything to be smooth against my own heart. Pretending its all fine. And it is that I will show those who are finding it difficult to move forward, stuck in their feelings, feelings that they don't wish to express. As they repress those ones then others become obsessive in trying to find a way through and a way out . To right me allow your feelings out – all of them particularly anger and those that may cause conflict and as you risk the conflict you find your own true spirit and life force and as you do that you are able to have a open heart that welcomes everybody again. ”
“Thank you your Majesty” I say “May I talk with your dog? ” “You may” He replies
“ Hello Bruce. I am wondering what you have to say to me here – your place in this card” “ I am the protector of the king – none shall pass and cause damage to the king – I will protect him at all costs and I also trust his judgment and that if he chooses someone to be his friend and welcome I too shall welcome them. He is my master and I shall follow where he goes and I shall be at his side with loyal devotion whatever situations or circumstances may befall him or me. It is my role to be his side man the one who stands beside him who supports him protects him. I am his friend I am loyal and I am true and in this card I represent those qualities, or loyalty friendship and truth and how I have the ability to go through the difficult times. [Speaking of my friend he says] Your friend is walking in another land and yet their loyalty has not totally left you – there is an element that connects you together honour that element as it is and allow it to be that and you will find greater freedom than you realise”

[Speaking of my partner he says]– “He protects you and stands by you, whatever, come what may, he will not leave you and know this and rely on him and allow yourself to be more yourself, for it is my desire that my master shall grow and grow, and I will adapt – I would not wish him to stagnate for the fear of looking after me or leaving me. I wish him to grow as your partner does you – allow yourself to grow”
“Thank you, I will. Wise words from both of you – I appreciate your guidance here today and your information about this card – I thank you and shall return.” I bow to the King and to the dog and turn to leave the card. I feel I have got a lot of personal information from this card and am pleased to be able to share some of it with you here.

The readings I offer on the phone, internet, in person or by post are detailed and last between 1/2 hour to an hour, also I record them onto CD or MP3 so you can listen to them time and time again – often people find that the things I have said take on new meanings as time passes and that the information that comes through really helps as situations unfold.
Information is gained both from the tarot cards as well as psychically the two forms of guidance merging together to give insight to any situation you are concerned about, or you general future.
Readings can be done by distance onto a CD or MP3 and sent to you in the post, so there's no need to be living in my area, or need to find a time we can both be present. I offer readings Face to Face, On Skype video phone, and usual telephone, as well as distance readings without you needing to be present or available when I do the reading for your focus directly onto CD or MP3. Spiritual Development Sessions
I now offer ongoing development sessions where we use guided meditations, readings and counselling techniques of various kinds to help you develop yourself from both a spiritual and psychological point of view. The sessions are very flexible and we can cover what you need in order to gain the most out of your life. Living your life closer and closer to your souls ideal. This is not psychotherapy though - but a regular support with teaching of skills, to help you move through lifes challenges and develop spiritually and psychologically. Personal relationship awareness and self development
By request, I am currently developing a course focusing on psychological self development and awareness of relationship patterns of behaviour we get into time and time again, to be run later on in the year. It will be heavily based on the theories of Transactional Analysis, which is a theory that explores the games we play with each other and the internal sub-personalities of Parent, Adult and Child, with a view to becoming more authentic in our lives. The course will be held online via a forum as my other courses are. It is not connected with tarot reading specifically, however it will be useful in dealing with clients, whether tarot, healing or other supportive professional roles - particularly where you may find challenges of communication. Initial Thoth Course We are currently taking bookings for the Initial Thoth course starting on January 2012. It covers the psychological and intuitional approaches to reading with the Thoth. There is a good deal of personal work and students often feel they have transfermed personally a lot through the course's duration, in addition to feeling confident with the Thoth and their increasing intuitive skills.
